Liverpool Elementary » Principal's Message
Winter is fast approaching! A few snowflakes have already fallen and a chill is in the air. With all the events taking place in the next couple months, LE will be an exciting, yet busy place. The students at LE will show off their talents in the Winter Concert on Tuesday, December 10, at 7:00. The concert will highlight the chorus, band, and orchestra. We will hold our next PFO meeting on Tuesday, January 14, at 6:30 in the library. The PFO will also have a fun and exciting movie night on Friday, January 24, at 6:00. We would love to have as many families as possible involved with our PFO and fun family nights. Thank you in advance for your involvement.
Our School Excellence Team (SET) has been hard at work analyzing our fall benchmark data and writing our literacy and math goals for the building. Though our teaching staff is already working each and every day to help our students succeed, these goals will help us work toward a common achievement for the building. Our 2013-2014 building goals are:
Literacy Goal: 50% of students will be at or above the 45th percentile on all of the identified AIMSWeb literacy subtests.
Math Goal: 44% of students will be at or above the 45th percentile on all of the identified AIMSWeb math subtests.
These goals may appear as if we’ve lowered the bar for our students but we have actually done the opposite. We are asking students to achieve at the 45th percentile instead of the 25th percentile like last year. I will be holding a parent information session in the winter to further explain our goals and how we are working to achieve them.
It is extremely important that all children have warm clothing for this time of year. Please be sure that your child leaves the house in warm clothing, including coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and boots. We will ensure that they return home in that same warm clothing.
Thank you for your continued support of your child’s education. Together, as a team, we will achieve success.
Mrs. Darcy L. Cangello
Important Message for all Parents:
