May/June 2013
Dear Families,
As we enter into the final eight weeks of the school year, there will be many exciting opportunities for our students. The weather is finally warm and the sky is filled with sun. Our students will go outside for recess and be able to shake off the winter months. Many grade levels will take field trips in May and June. Fifth graders will visit Onondaga Lake to learn about ecosystems and our kindergarten troops will head to the zoo to learn about the animals. All of our students will be treated to a PAC performance as well.
With the end of April comes the end of most of our NYS Tests for the year. I was highly impressed by the effort of your children. Thank you for your help in preparing them at home as we prepared them at school. We will now get back to our normal schedules. Students and teachers will learn together and work toward our math and literacy goals.
The end of an era for our sixth graders is rapidly approaching. End of the year activities will celebrate seven years of schooling (not all at LE). To fund these celebrations and to further their awareness of historical periods, the sixth graders will be putting on the Renaissance Faire on Friday, May 17. This event promises to be a fun night for all; great food, medieval games, raffles, and a lot of unique vendors. I hope everyone can attend to show their support for our sixth graders.
I hope everyone can get out and enjoy the spring weather. Thank you for your continued support of your child’s education. Together, as a team, we will achieve success.
Sincerely,
Darcy L. Cangello
